Deep inside the Vijaya Vittala Temple in Hampi, India, lies an architectural mystery that baffles modern engineers. These are the Musical Pillars, also known as the SaReGaMa pillars.
Despite being carved from solid granite, these 56 columns produce the sounds of traditional Indian instruments like the Veena, Flute, and Mridangam when gently tapped.
🔍 The Secret: During the British era, two pillars were actually cut open to see if they were hollow or contained bells. To their surprise, they were completely solid! This proves the ancient Vijayanagara craftsmen had a master-level understanding of acoustic engineering and geology.
