While the UDF secured victories across corporations and panchayats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved a historic milestone by ending the Left's 45-year rule in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation with 50 seats. An unidentified BJP representative termed the results 'epoch-making' and a sign of 'God's grace'. Conversely, a UDF leader attributed the BJP's capital gain to the CPM's poor performance and vote transfer.
