Internet Governance Explained | Simulation

Robert Knake, Whitney Shepardson senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, defines internet governance for CFR Model Diplomacy’s “Cyber Clash With China” case study. Knake explains the basic functions that keep the internet running and the entities that carry out these functions. He discusses the views of the United States, China, Brazil, and European countries on internet governance and the proper degree of state control. Knake assesses current debates on internet traffic encryption and norms in cyber warfare and espionage, and notes the U.S. interest in remaining the internet’s global hub.
