Описание к видео Is it art or it just “looks nice”? | Praveen Nadaraju on the Artinorbit podcast

From the Artinorbit podcast with artist Praveen Nadaraju interviewed by Sofi Ortegano —a young artist and musical theater student.

Praveen took his own unique artistic route, training for over 20 years in Life drawing, Industrial Design, Classical, and Computer Animation.
Praveen Moodley Nadaraju in his own words:
I would describe my style as heuristic (unknown), part of this art process uses a Cezanne-like approach to layering multi angle images, ranging from, dolls to nature, nothing is out of bounds, I feel and let things flow, constantly challenging myself to go further and look deeper into myself and my work.
At 17, I started practicing the Italian Classical way of life drawing.
I then pursued a career in Industrial Design, which led into Interior Design for 6 years and another 20 years transitioning into Classical &
Computer Animation.
The last three years has been a mash of experiences, from starting a Wellness business (defunct), being offered a job as a hedge fund consultant, everything changed once I sought change, that change is still happening. Art, art is the foundation of my being, it's what allows me to go beyond the animal state of human nature.

SOFI — So that's why you make your art, to leave some part of you behind.
PRAVEEN — Yeah. Yeah, that's so interesting.
SOFI — Because you also mentioned that you are very inspired by Duchamp, by Marcel Duchamp, which is very interesting because I studied in an art school for two years and we studied plastic arts like, yeah, Duchamp and also many other artists that you mentioned that we will also talk about. And Duchamp said that art isn't ruled by time or space. So that really adds up with what you're saying. You just want to leave something behind that is rather that makes sense because it connects to what I said before of you being inspired by life and by your memories, by things that create your memories that you want to leave memories behind but in a physical form because your paintings and your art are basically memories that will last, right?
PRAVEEN — Yeah. Can I show you according to what you just said? Now it's making me wonder. Maybe that's why I'm doing this. I did this. So I took... So this is a bust of Marianne. And so what I did is all these Let's like paper mache kind of thing I applied. This is my comic that influenced me when I was growing up So it influenced me so much. I didn't want to keep it on the shelf. I have all these books You know, they're all so nice and I love sitting down and reading and they provided me so much comfort and I thought you know What? I'm sure other people like it just as much as me right and I would love to have it on display because I always like looking at it. And so this to me is like, it's such a memory, right? And on the back under it, actually, it started with paintings. I must have sanded this thing about five times, painted it six different ways. And finally, every time I did it, I just, it looked nice, but it just looked nice. Yeah, you wanted something deeper than just looking nice. Yeah. Yeah. And then under this actually happens to be my 1970s yearbook from high school. So I took everybody's photo and I cut it up because I remembered all the faces. There were people in there I didn't remember, and it was bringing me back all these like really good vibes and then I was putting it into this and I thought this is great.
SOFI — Hey that's so interesting so you're very fascinated by memories. Wow that's so interesting. So maybe you just found out something new about yourself.
PRAVEEN — I did. You just actually taught me something about myself, which I didn't know. That's so great. Thank you.
SOFI — So you are very nostalgic, in a way.
PRAVEEN — Yes.
