This is a very peculiar sounding scale when played in a static melodic minor context like this. Don't be discouraged if it's hard to find melodies at first. They may be hiding, but they're there - and you're bound to come up with some completely new licks and melodic ideas if you take your time and really explore this scale pattern.

Also - MANY of the sexiest scales in jazz stem from the melodic minor scale - like the altered scale for example (aka superlocrian, the 7th mode of the melodic minor scale).
