Rebecca's Private Idaho - 2023

Описание к видео Rebecca's Private Idaho - 2023

I am an amateur cyclist that started gravel cycling two years ago. My goal is to complete the 100 mile route of Rebecca's Private Idaho. I first tried in 2022, but I suffered an unfortunate panic attack the night before and I didn't sleep. I decided to sit out the race and not attempt it. I was devastated to work so hard and come so far, and then not even try. I vowed to come back the next year and attempt it again. I worked harder than the year before and I did everything I could to be physically and mentally ready. Disaster struck again when I had another panic attack the night before the race. I was even more devastated than I was the year before. This time I wouldn't sit out. I decided to show up and see how much of the race I could complete, even though I didn't sleep the night before. This video is a compilation of clips from the race.

I was aware of one cutoff that I had to make, which is at the mile 43 aid station. Riders are required to make it there in three and a half hours. I barely made it. Later in the race, riders divert from the main road onto a several mile single-track route. Apparently, I got there too late and they didn't let me do that part of the course. So, I was marked as a 'DNF' (did not finish). I still completed 100 miles and I'm proud of myself for that. I am a little bitter about the DNF because I was not told ahead of time that there was a cutoff time for the single-track portion. I would have pushed harder to make it there in time. I was told after the initial cutoff that I could take my time on the course and enjoy the rest of the ride, which is what I did.
