Previously, Erik began the Version 1 storyline "Gartlant Story". He explored Gartlant Castle Town, where he met Sage Malynn, bane to pickpockets everywhere. Then, he explored Gartlant Castle and listened in on an audience that King Grossner was providing to Maille and Arold. Malynn showed up, as well. The king asked Arold to look into a missing persons case, and Arold asked Erik to meet him at the Zama Beacon. When Erik reached Zama Beacon, though, he met Maille, who had bad news. Erik and Maille returned to Gartlant Castle to report to King Grossner. During this, a missing soldier showed up with information about his abductor. Erik must now go to the Pirate's Hideout in the north of the Gilzad Region, which is southeast of the Gartlant Territory.
