I was at work at Green Valley Decorative Rock for much of the action, so you will see what I saw from that perspective. In my opinion, this monsoon season has been quite beneficial so far in the Green Valley, AZ area. I believe we have had an above average amount of rain since the season started (which helped us catch up on rainfall from a very dry 1st half of the year). I do not know precisely how much rain has fallen in Green Valley so far this monsoon season, but I would guess at around 5 inches so far with about another 4 weeks to go in the season. Monsoon season officially starts June 15th and ends September 15th here in Arizona. The last few days that this video covers gave us probably 1.5 of those 5 inches I mentioned previously. The really great thing was that although we did have some strong thunderstorms with some heavy rain, there were times when it rained lightly to moderately for hours. This means that much of the rain had a chance to soak in and not just run off. The foliage has exploded with growth and everything is very lush with many plants blooming again. If we get no more rain for the next 4 weeks, I would still say it has been an excellent monsoon season, but as most Arizonans would agree, we would be happy for a little bit more!!!
