Some of the cheapest digital nomad destinations I cover in this video include:
1️⃣ Mexico
Mexico isn't the absolute cheapest digital nomad country out there. But it has so much going for it. Amazing food and culture, excellent beaches, and a large nomad/expat community are selling points. It also has a 180 day tourist visa for many countries, making it easy to escape the winter and head to Mexico. Playa Del Carmen, Oaxaca, and Puerto Vallarta are some top areas to consider.
2️⃣ South Africa
South Africa has been my all-time favorite and cheap digital nomad destination. Specifically, I spent over a month in Cape Town and plan on heading back soon. This country has amazing wildlife, food, and so much nature for you to explore. And while it's not the most popular nomad destination, I think it's possible to stay safe in South Africa and to effectively deal with load shedding. I never had any issues working remotely from here, in any case, and WiFi was fast and reliable!
3️⃣ Turkey
Turkey is a country that has such rich history and culture. It's also very affordable, especially if you're earning USD, Euros, or another strong currency. Istanbul is an amazing city to live in. You can also check out areas like Bodrum, Izmir, and tons of other beautiful parts of the country.
4️⃣ Colombia
I've spent many months as a digital nomad in Colombia. It's quite affordable, especially if you get off of Airbnb and find local listings or people to rent from. Medellin is a digital nomad hub, and the city has amazing climate, food, and nightlife. You can also check out Bogota or areas like Cartagena or Barranquilla, and the nature and wildlife in Colombia is superb. I haven't had issues with safety in Colombia personally, and some common sense goes a long way here, especially if you plan on partying.
5️⃣ Thailand
Thailand is a classic cheap digital nomad destination with so much to offer. There's amazing food, beaches, and a booming nomad community. Rentals and transportation are very affordable, and you can definitely live on a budget here. I really enjoyed my time living in Phuket. Other popular areas include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Pattaya, and Krabi.
6️⃣ Indonesia
Like Thailand, Indonesia has other affordable digital nomad destinations that are also very popular. I spent some time in Bali and enjoyed it, although I personally prefer Thailand to Indonesia. That said, areas like Bali, Canggu, Jakarta, Ubud and others are popular for nomads.
7️⃣ Argentina
Argentina and cities like Buenos Aires are becoming more popular with nomads. Argentina has had issues with inflation, but the cost of living is quite low if you earn USD, Euros, or another strong currency.
I also wanted to include some honorable mentions on this list. Other affordable digital nomad places include:
Vietnam (especially Da Nang)
Philippines
Hungary
Portgual
Georgia
Sri Lanka
I also wanted to cover a few surprising picks you might not have seen in other videos. Hopefully, at least one of these destinations excites you to visit.
Thank you for watching and for the support as always 😊💖 Have an amazing day everyone!
