SHMF | Introducing the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra

Описание к видео SHMF | Introducing the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra

»Let's make music as friends«: Following this motto of conductor and SHMF co-founder Leonard Bernstein, each year more than 100 young musicians from a wide variety of nations come together to form the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra (SHFO) during the SHMF festival season. Ever since its founding in 1987, the orchestra has enjoyed an excellent reputation worldwide.

On-site auditions are offered each winter in about 30 cities across North and South America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East to more than 1.500 young musicians. From all applicants, who are no more than 26 years old, the best are selected by a jury. The musicians receive a scholarship that includes their trip to Schleswig-Holstein and their stay at the Nordkolleg Rendsburg during the festival season from the beginning of July to the end of August, as well as intensive work with renowned international conductors like Christoph Eschenbach, Michael Sanderling and Iván Fischer. Rehearsals will be held in the ACO Thormannhalle on the grounds of NordArt in Rendsburg-Büdelsdorf.
