Charles Spurgeon was a famous Calvinist preacher if the 1800's and is often quoted by Christians today to support evangelistic efforts and Bible teachings. Sadly, he is also quoted by many New Calvinists today, not to emphasize Spurgeon's mission of evangelism and Christianity and winning souls to Jesus Christ, but instead to selectively use a couple of his not so wise quotes that emphasize Calvinism as the only true Gospel, which it is not. Calvinism is a man-made religious soteriological system that is demonstrably false when tested against Scripture. It is a false gospel.

Charles Spurgeon, often called the Prince of Preachers, had a massive impact on evangelical Christianity in the 19th century (1800's) through powerful sermons and writings. As the Pastor of London’s Metropolitan Tabernacle for nearly four decades, he reached many thousands of people in person and millions more through his printed sermons distributed in newspapers and other printed materials. Spurgeon preached the Gospel with an emphasis on personal faith in Christ and a defense of Biblical truth and Godly values against modernist trends influencing his generation. Ever since, he has been an influence on pastors, missionaries, and lots of Christians worldwide.

His impact continues today, but of course nobody is perfect and everyone is prone to occasionally say foolish things that divide the Body of Christ and when documented those quotes live on forever. With all the printed and documented sermons and writings of Spurgeon, the New Calvinists today whose end all and be all of existence is to defend Calvinism, they have cherry picked a couple of his quotes to use for nefarious purposes. Their goal is not aligned with the goal of Spurgeon which was to preach the Gospel and win souls to Christ. Instead they want to use his name and foolish biased quotes about Calvinism to convert Christians to Calvinism. Therefore they selectively use and abuse some of his false and unfortunate quotes, creating undeserved credibility from one of the most influential preachers in church history, and turning Calvinism into a cult.
