ट्रांसप्लांट के बाद कितने दिन चलती हैं किडनी | Life Span after Kidney Transplant | Dr Puru Dhawan
When a young patient's kidneys are damaged, shrunken, and no longer functioning, a kidney transplant becomes the only viable option. It is crucial to understand the transplant journey, including survival rates, and the difference between receiving a kidney from a family donor or an unknown donor.

𝟭. 𝗨𝗻𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿
The lifespan of a transplanted kidney from an unknown donor can vary significantly. Since there is no blood relationship between the patient and the donor, the body may reject the kidney or it may fail sooner. There is no guarantee about how long the kidney will last, and the chances of complications are higher.
𝟮. 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿
When the kidney comes from a family member, especially a close relative, the chances of survival are much higher. In many cases, the transplanted kidney can function well for 10 to 20 years. However, it is important to note that this is not a permanent solution. After 10–20 years, another transplant may be needed, but by that time, medical advancements may offer new treatment options or solutions.

His creatinine levels were 4.5 mg/dL in February 2018. He sought treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, but despite efforts, his creatinine levels continued to rise, reaching 9.4 mg/dL by November. The underlying cause of his kidney damage was high blood pressure, leading to chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, due to improper treatment, this progressed to acute kidney injury (AKI) on CKD.
