Описание к видео 2023 Basics and Beyond

Dr. Luca Marsili from UC Health presents the facts about Parkinson’s. This is perfect for those who are newly diagnosed or want to review the basics. A panel discussion occurs after the presentation where three people who have lived with Parkinson’s share their experiences. Dr. Marsili is a fellow in Movement Disorders at The UC Gardner Family Neuroscience Institute. He completed his residency training in Neurology, in Italy. Then he enrolled in a PhD program in Clinical Neuroscience. During these years, his clinical and research interest were focused on: a) Physiology of human motor system and pathophysiology of movement disorders, by using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and computerized kinematical analysis techniques, b) Therapeutic strategies and clinical challenges in Parkinson’s disease (PD), atypical parkinsonisms (progressive supranuclear palsy, multiple system atrophy, corticobasal degeneration) and other movement disorders (dystonia, Tourette Syndrome, tics, chorea). He was also a co-investigator in some phase-III multicentric randomized clinical trials in PD. Most of these research activities focused on primary motor cortex plasticity and its correlation with clinical features, to better understand the pathophysiology of different movement disorders. He became interested also in clinical challenges, particularly in monitoring, programming, and following up patients with PD, atypical parkinsonisms, dystonia and other movement disorders, and neurodegenerative pathologies.
