This was not supposed to be in Premiere, but since this upload is "late" (according to my original schedule), then why not!

The medley is put together as follows:
0:00 : Magnamalo Battle Theme (Barbarous Beast) - Monster Hunter Rise
2:20 : Magnamalo Chase Theme (Barbarous Beast: The Chase) - Monster Hunter Rise
3:29 : Devourer Of Chaos (Cinematic) - Monster Hunter Rise
4:30 : Magnamalo Battle Theme (Barbarous Beast) - Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert: Hunting Music Festival 2021
6:53 : Magnamalo Battle Theme (Barbarous Beast) - Monster Hunter Orchestra Concert: Hunting Music Festival 2022-2023

Longest, toughest, greatest, proudest of... aaaaah, I already said that for Primordial Malzeno. Anyway, we celebrate Monster Hunter Rise and Magnamalo!

OK so I am definitely not a fan of Magnamalo, I used to really dislike it (same goes for its theme) when I started my journey in Monster Hunter Rise. To this day, I appreciate him a bit more (thanks to Scorned Magnamalo) but that's about it. But on the other hand I now love its theme and this plays a big part in my liking of the monster.

And there's so much to say about it: so many instrument layers (a lot are subtle), the harmony is horrifyingly great, the pace and rhythmic pattern of the strings always gets me, the melody of the flute, the choirs... And that biwa!!

This piece of music has quite a different feel compared to other monsters' themes. It sounds more like a duel, a conscientious battle between two opponents rather than just a monster being hunted. Magnamalo communicates that he can hunt us too and beat us down, which is something I really wanted to replicate and pay tribute to in this cover. The whole piece beautifully flirts between strong grandiose combat-paced strings/brass/drums and more personal, sad, melancholic, desperate leading flute/violin.

This cover was interesting to create because it directly challenged my ear training at first. Every new listen of the original song made me go nuts and realize: "Damn, I didn't hear this instrument playing here before!" ; "Oh, another one!" ; "...Seriously?"...
I even had to re-record the guitar parts four to five times before hearing the exact right thing I needed or wanted to play. Maybe it's just me and I'm dumb, but this piece really showed me that I made progress in this area and that's uplifting!

As for the cover itself, as always, I wanted it to go nuts as well. I followed the same principle I did for Primordial Malzeno: base theme, chase/cinematics, base again (+ live orchestra/outro if available/needed).
It was hard to make it to the end (sacrified some sleeptime in order to be able to upload it today, even if I was supposed to upload on Wednesday 31st) but the final result of it is what I really wanted to show you.
This is also the first time I've done something like this but, I actually bought a virtual instrument software for Biwa especially for this cover after a way-too-long series of tries to imitate such a sound. I do REALLY hope you'll enjoy this investment haha.

Like Primordial Malzeno again, I added part of the monster's cinematics we see in the games because it's cool and badass and some pieces are directly related to them (Devourer Of Chaos in this case).
I was so stoked to see that the pace and structure of the piece matches the fighting act between Scorned Magnamalo and Zinogre that I now get chills every time I rewatch the video (and I found it funny that ‪@MarcoMeatball‬ recently released two music breakdown videos on Magnamalo and Zinogre themes, what a fitting timing). These are my favourite parts of the video and the piece.

Maybe some instruments need a little bit of better polish (like the choirs or the flute at some point), but in the end, this whole video is definitely one of my proudest works so far.
Tell me what you think about it and, of course, enjoy!
