At just 14 months old, Evie Koustis is the picture of joy, a happy and energetic toddler who loves a good snack. But behind her bright smile lies a journey that most could never imagine.

Evie’s mother, Tiffany Koustis, had been told since she was 15 years old that she wouldn't be able to get pregnant. That prognosis seemed final — until a life-changing surprise arrived in March 2023.

"My grandmother had passed away in December, and then we found out about [Evie]. It felt like a miracle from the start," Tiffany said.

However, the miracle came with significant challenges. Early on in her pregnancy, Tiffany learned her baby had a dysplastic kidney. Then, during Tiffany’s 20-week ultrasound, doctors raised other concerns. Tiffany was advised to undergo an amniocentesis test to understand more.
