Step 1: Gather Your Tools:
First, let's gather the tools and parts you'll need:
Ratchet and socket set (size may vary, typically around 10mm)
New crankshaft position sensor (make sure it matches your Sportage's specifications)
Jack and jack stands, or Rhino Ramps
Flathead screwdriver (for prying)
Having these ready will make the job much easier.

Step 2: Prepare Your Workspace:
For safety, park your Kia Sportage on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. If necessary, use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it on jack stands for better access to the sensor.

Step 3: Locate the Crankshaft Position Sensor:
The crankshaft position sensor in the Kia Sportage is located near the bottom of the engine, To the right of the transmission beneath a metal cover secured by 2 bolts.

Step 4: Remove the Old Sensor:
Using your ratchet and the appropriate socket (often around 10mm), carefully loosen and remove the bolt securing the crankshaft position sensor. Keep the bolt in a safe place as you'll need it later. Gently pull the sensor straight out of its housing. Be cautious with the wiring attached to the sensor.

Step 5: Install the New Sensor:
Carefully insert the new sensor into the housing, making sure it aligns correctly. Install the bolt to mount the sensor and feed the sensor through to the top side of the engine. Secure the sensor by reinstalling the bolt and tightening it snugly with your ratchet. If there was an engine cover, put it back in place.

Step 6: Connect the top of the sensor:
Unplug the old sensor on the top side of the engine and plug in the new sensor.

Step 7: Test Vehicle:
Start your Kia Sportage and let it idle for a few minutes. Listen for any unusual noises or vibrations. Rev the engine gently to ensure proper sensor operation."

Step 8: Clear Error Codes if needed:
To complete the job, use an OBD-II scanner to clear the P0335 error code from your Kia Sportage's computer. This will reset the check engine light and verify that the issue has been resolved.
