Our first full day in Dhaka. First impressions hit hard, as they always do in cities like this. Noise, heat, life, unfiltered and impossible to ignore.

Breakfast came from a street cart. Samosas, deep-fried and golden, stuffed with potatoes and heat. Spicy enough to make you blink. Eaten standing up, surrounded by the thrum of a city already wide awake.

We found a coffee shop called Crimson Coffee, quiet and cool inside. A brief pause, a good cup, the calm before another storm.

We tried to grab a rickshaw to Old Dhaka, but the language barrier turned the trip into a comedy of errors. Then came a stranger with perfect English and perfect timing, who sorted everything with a smile and a wave, then disappeared into the crowd like it was nothing.

Old Dhaka is a city within a city, tangled in time. We visited a Mughal-era tomb, where the past still lingers in the walls. Friendly faces everywhere, endless questions, endless welcomes. Then came the twist, a whispered offer, a side door, and suddenly we were being shown underground escape tunnels beneath the city, off-limits and half-forgotten. Dhaka has layers. Some of them don’t show up on maps.

Later, we stepped back into the streets, louder, hotter, more alive than before. Markets spilling into alleys, people everywhere, horns, dust, colour, movement. The kind of chaos that reminds you you're alive.

Dhaka doesn’t hold back. And on day one, it already had us hooked.
