Savatage started out when the Oliva bros whom at the time were in two seperate bands decided to unite and formed Metropolis, which went on to become Avatar and eventually Savatage.

Savatage Raw & Rare is a collection of those early days with songs that would end up becoming outtakes or rehashed into other songs.

This collection consist entirely of Criss Oliva playing on all songs and encompases his entire career for pre Savatage to post Jon Oliva Savatage featuring an outtake from the Edge of Thorns sessions with Zac Stevens
