Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey, not a one-time event. When we first come to Christ, we start as spiritual infants, learning the basics of our faith. But God calls us to move beyond the foundation and continually grow in our relationship with Him, deepening our understanding of His Word and His will for our lives.

The beginning of wisdom is rooted in the fear of the Lord, but that is just the starting point of our spiritual journey. Accepting Christ is only the beginning; the Scriptures challenge us to mature in our faith, to leave behind the elementary teachings, and to progress toward a deeper, more profound knowledge of God. Hebrews 5:12-14 contrasts the milk of foundational truths with the solid food of spiritual maturity, showing that growth involves discerning and applying truth with wisdom.

True growth in faith requires intentional effort. We are called to seek God wholeheartedly, allowing His Word to dwell richly in us (Colossians 3:16). This involves regular study of Scripture, prayer, and allowing the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts and minds (Romans 12:2). Stagnation is not an option; 2 Peter 3:18 urges us to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Growth is also about living out our faith in practical ways. James 1:22 challenges us to be doers of the Word, not hearers only. True spiritual maturity is reflected in how we live—how we love, forgive, and mirror the character of Christ in our daily lives.

As we grow in our faith, we are not only nourished spiritually but also empowered to share that nourishment with others. God’s desire is for us to grow into the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13), becoming beacons of light in a world that desperately needs the truth and hope we carry.
