জ্যোতির্বিদ্যা শিক্ষা করা ও অর্জন করা নিন্দনীয় কাজ। সুতরাং নবী করীম (ছঃ) বলিয়াছেন, “যখন তাকদারের আলোচনা হইতে দেখিবে তখন চুপ থাকিবে। যখন তারকার আলোচনা হইতে দেখিবে তখন চুপ থাকিবে। আর আমার সাহাবায়ে কেরামের ব্যাপারে যখন সমালোচনা হইতে থাকিবে তখনো চুপ থাকিবে।

আরেকটি হাদীসে বর্ণিত হইয়াছে নবী করীম (ছঃ) বলিয়াছেন, আমার পরবর্তী উম্মাতের ব্যাপারে আমি তিনটি বিষয়ের ভয় অনুভব করিতেছি (১) নেতৃস্থানীয় লোকদের অত্যাচার ও বাড়াবাড়ি হইতে, (২) তারকারাজির উপর। বিশ্বাস-ভক্তি হইতে এবং (৩) অদৃষ্টের প্রতি অস্বীকার করা হইতে।

আমীরুল মু'মিনীন হযরত উমর ফারুক (রাঃ) বলিয়াছেন, জ্যোতির্বিদ্যা শুধু তুমি এতটুকুই শিখিতে পার যতটুকু দ্বারা জল ও স্থলের রাস্তা পাওয়া যায়। ইহার চাইতে অতিরিক্ত শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করিও না। তিন কারণে জ্যোতির্বিদ্যা শিক্ষা করা নিষিদ্ধ। প্রথমত, ইহার দ্বারা মানুষের বিশ্বাস প্রতিক্রিয়াশীল হয়। সুতরাং তাহারা যখন এই কথা জানিতে পারে যে, তারকার গতির পরে অমুক অমুক নব উদ্ভাবন দুর্ভাগ্য হইবে। তাহা হইলে ইহা তাহার অন্তরে চিরস্থায়ী হইয়া যাইবে যে, তারকাই প্রকৃত ফলদায়ক আর তাহাই উপাস্য। আর ইহা জগত পরিচালক। কারণ হইল, সূক্ষ্মাতিসূক্ষ্ম মহা মূল্যবান, সুউচ্চ আকাশে অবস্থানের কারণে অন্তরে তাহার বড়ত্ব সৃষ্টি হয় এবং এমন অনুভূতি আসিতে থাকে যে, ভালো ও মন্দ যাহা কিছু ঘটিতেছে তাহা তাহার দ্বারা হইয়া থাকে। এই ধরনের বিশ্বাসের কারণে আল্লাহর স্মরণ অন্তর হইতে দূরীভূত হইয়া যায়। কমজোর ও দুর্বল বিশ্বাসী লোকের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি অগ্রসরমাণ হয়। না । পক্ষান্তরে বিজ্ঞ আলেমগণ এই সবের রহস্য গভীরভাবে অনুধাবন করিতে পারেন।

দ্বিতীয়ত, জ্যোতিষের তারকারাজি সম্পর্কিত ভবিষ্যতবাণী শুধু অনুমান ও আন্দাজের উপর নির্ভরশীল। তাহাদের প্রত্যেকের ব্যাপারেই জ্ঞান অবশ্যম্ভাবী নহে এবং ধারণাগতও নহে। এই কারণে জ্যোতির্বিদ্যার সাহায্যে কোন নির্দেশ জারি করা মূর্খতার প্রতি নির্দেশ জারি করার মতোই। এই অবস্থায় জ্যোতির্বিদ্যার নিন্দা শুধু এই জন্য করা হইয়া
