DESCRIPTION

General: The Indonesian Chili Rasbora (Boraras brigittae) is an endemic species, native to Borneo. Naturally, the Chili Rasbora occupies "blackwater" (5.0 to 6.2 pH, soft water hardness 1 to 6 dGH) wetlands of Borneo, where they feed on microinvertebrates.

Reproduction: Acidic, soft water conditions are critical when attempting to breed Chili Rasbora. Floating plants, as well as optimal diet, will promote reproductive behaviors.

Preferred Water Chemistry: Slightly acidic (6.0-7.5 pH), intermediate water hardness (3-12 dGH)

Aquarium Diet: Brine Shrimp, Baby Brine Shrimp, Blackworms, general flake, omnivore pellet, Spirulina

Dimorphism: Once mature, the Chili Rasbora (Boraras brigittae) male will become slightly brighter in coloration. The female will retain her original colors. The female Chili Rasbora will take on a more gravid appearance when ready to reproduce.

Compatibility: The Chili Rasbora (Boraras brigittae) are typically compatible with other Rasboras, Danio, Tetra, Pencilfish, Hatchetfish, and Corydoras.
