ConTours | Courtney Barnett

As anyone who’s slept cheek first on a filthy carpet can tell you, the life of a touring musician isn’t all glitz and glamor. It can, however, be a lot of fun. Contours is a new feature where we take you on tour with some of our favorite artists. As they make their way through the country, we’ll show you behind-the-scenes moments as they occur in real-time. You’ll see every questionably colored hot dog consumed, every old-timey mechanic met when the van breaks down.

The first artist to be featured is Courtney Barnett, the affable Australian singer-songwriter who released the excellent album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit earlier this this year. Courtney began her tour in wine-soaked Napa and took the Southern route through Los Angeles and San Diego. This is her first large-scale U.S. tour, which means she discovers just as much as you.
