Bedazzled (2000) is a comedy starring Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. It’s a loose remake of a 1967 film of the same name. And the 1967 film is a loose retelling of the story of Faust.

There are some key differences between the 2000 movie and the 1967 movie. One is that Elizabeth Hurley is one sexy devil. The other is the ending. I explain both.

(Actually, there are some other huge differences between the movies that I don’t go into. Both were comedies, but the 1967 version was WAY more bleak.)

Currently, we are in the midst of the Brendan Fraser Renaissance. I’m not entirely sure what that means, but I support it.

Also, I think Elizabeth Hurley might have sold her soul to the devil. I explain that too.

Parts of this movie didn’t age super well, but it’s still fun. I enjoyed rewatching it. And that’s all that matters.

I did wonder if this video was a bit too long, but to be fair, I do also discuss the 1967 movie. And go on a bunch of tangents. (This was seriously the video of a thousand tangents. I had to cut most of them. But some remain.)

Upcoming Videos:

I’m working on one about an “erotica” author. It started out just being a review of one of the books and turned into an essay about the eccentricities and mystery surrounding the author.

I also bought a Stargate tie-in novel. When I read that, if I have something to say, I’ll likely make a video.

There are a few other more immediate things -- like the best/worst Lifetime movie. AND a Halloween video exploring another lingering traumatic media from my childhood. (In the same vein as the Gooey Gus video from last year.)

There’s a super long list of videos I want to make. Especially some more in-depth videos that require a lot of time. (I do hope Life Things will settle down by the end of the year. Famous last words, right?)
