Why Did Lithuania REJECT To Annex Kaliningrad From Russia?

Описание к видео Why Did Lithuania REJECT To Annex Kaliningrad From Russia?

This is Kaliningrad. A detached Russian territory acquired from Germany after the second world war. Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, many western countries took it upon themselves to isolate Russia. Kaliningrad was no exception, if you’ve seen the news recently. You’ll know that Kaliningrad is now a contentious point between the West and the Russian federation. Being surrounded by Nato members, it makes it hard for Russia to transfer goods back and forth. What is interesting about this.Is that Kaliningrad was at one point offered to be integrated within the Lithuanian SSR within the soviet union. Meaning that present day Lithuania could have kept the territory in its entirety.
