Brown butter adds a rich, toasty depth that takes your everyday iced coffee to a whole new level. Pair that with vanilla and just the right pinch of salt, and you’ve got yourself a café-worthy drink at home!

Episode 4 of BIY: Brew It Yourself

Ingredients:
Butter - 1 tbsp
Coffee powder - 1 tbsp
Sugar - 1½ tbsp
Hot water - 4 tbsp
Vanilla - ½ tsp
Choice of milk - ½ cup
Salt - pinch

Ice cubes - as required

Method:
In a small pan over medium heat, melt the butter and cook until it foams, turns golden with tiny brown specks, and smells nutty; take off heat and let cool for 1–2 minutes.
In a mixing glass, combine coffee powder, sugar, hot water, the warm brown butter, vanilla, and salt; whisk or froth vigorously until emulsified and slightly foamy.
Fill a serving glass with ice and pour in the chilled milk.
Top with the coffee–brown butter mixture, stir well, and enjoy immediately.
