11. King Gizzard - Crumbling Castle Double Drum Cover

Here we have one of the most recent efforts from Australian Psych band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. The song is Crumbling Castle, the epic 10 minute opener from the album Polygondwanaland.

The band released this album for free download/pressing so the fans could use the material to create their own vinyls/cds/packaging/marketing and it's proved to be a monumental success.

The band famously use two drummers on all their material, and I chose to do this song because I feel it really showcases how they use the two drummers to their advantage. Layering different cymbals on top of one another, Eric keeping the groove playing whilst Cavs puts in a fill over the top, and playing two different time signatures at the same time are just some of the things these guys are masters of.

I decided to do a double drum cover to try get as much of the drums/percussion in as possible. It proved to be difficult recording them at separate times and that's why at some points it slips out of sync.
