Dye Time #26: Low Immersion Dyeing Cotton Yarn Aida and Cotton Embroidery Floss, Fiber Reactive Dyes

Описание к видео Dye Time #26: Low Immersion Dyeing Cotton Yarn Aida and Cotton Embroidery Floss, Fiber Reactive Dyes

I've only ever dyed yarn from animal fibre using low immersion. Usually, I don't use a heat source to set dye on plant fibres but I decided to give it a go this time. It really sped up the dyeing time! And, I'm not quite sure how, but I managed to get some beautiful speckles from the dry powdered dye. The dye broke into the colours it was made of and created some beautiful cotton yarns and aida.

Featured in this tutorial:
Yarn: 10g 77% cotton, 23% silk yarn, 10g 68% cotton, 32% jute yarn, 10g 100% cotton yarn, a small square of Aida and 5 metres of 6 stranded cotton embroidery floss.
Dye: Wedgewood Blue and Razzle Dazzle fibre reactive dyes from Dharma Trading
All equipment (pots/spoons/jars etc) used in this video is dedicated for dyeing.
