The Marmolada, often called the "Queen of the Dolomites," is the highest mountain in the Dolomites range in northeastern Italy. More recently, on July 3, 2022, a massive piece of the Marmolada glacier broke off due to unusually warm temperatures, triggering an avalanche that resulted in the deaths of 11 people and left several others missing.
