If you have my 7th album, go and listen to That Wonderful Night. Yes! I used the exact same melody! Well, Brian Wilson does that A LOT, so why can't I just once? Ok twice actually, as Patelvis is the same song as '72.
I used to threaten people with this song for years and it became a thing where I don't think people actually believed it existed. "Oh yeah, so you finished Give Me Some Cello then? No, thought not" So I was so glad when it actually became real. I felt like the end of Monsters Inc where "Put That Thing Back Where It Came From Or So Help Me" actually became a REAL song!
Mark and I had A BLAST recording this, piling on all the madness. Overdub Heaven indeed. Matt who recorded the drums YEARS before I did the overdubs was amazed that I had all this craziness in my head and only did one take and just straight drums with nothing in my headphones, no guides or anything.
The cello I mime on was loaned to us by Spencer and is the ACTUAL cello the 286 was born on! This was the one he overdubbed the first demo on to sound like an ensemble! It still had all its strings back then.
I had one of the nicest days of my life with Nancy, Tom and the deer, shooting parts of this in Noel Edmonds Park in Sevenoaks.
