In this video, I show you how to introduce and use a pivot bowl to improve:

A pivot bowl is simply a stable object your dog places their front paws on while moving their rear end around it. This teaches body awareness and precise movement control.

Step 1: Introduce the Object

Not every dog is comfortable stepping onto a new surface.

You will learn:
• How to acclimate your dog to the bowl
• How to reward small contact attempts
• When to start with a larger or softer object
• How to build confidence before adding movement

Confidence comes first. Precision comes later.

Step 2: Build Front Paw Stability

Your dog learns to:
• Keep both front paws planted
• Shift weight appropriately
• Stay balanced on a surface

This builds the foundation for:
• Competitive obedience pivots
• Cleaner heel work
• Trick transitions
• Back up cues
• Sit pretty and other fitness moves

Step 3: Add Rear End Movement

Once your dog is comfortable:
• Use spatial pressure to guide movement
• Lure carefully without pulling them off
• Reward small shifts in the rear end
• Increase speed gradually

This improves core strength, coordination, and leash responsiveness.
