Kilpatrick is serving 28 years in Federal Prison after being found guilty of racketeering and other corruption charges. His father Bernard Kilpatrick was found guilty of filing a false tax return. He served 10 months and is currently on probation.

7 Action News Investigator Jim Kiertzner is getting his first look at the documentary focused on embattled former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.

But several people are seen in their most private moments including Kwame, his wife Carlita, his three sons, Christine Beatty, the former Mayor’s Chief of Staff and lover, who along with the Mayor was found guilty of Perjury, Bernard Kilpatrick and Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick, who lost her reelection to the U.S. Congress after her son’s scandal dominated Detroit.

This is not a big budget or Hollywood production. The documentary is produced by two low-key Detroiters, working in their Midtown Flat. Tim Smith is a former TV news producer, his son Tobias is a cameraman and editor. They're in was a connection Tim had with Congresswoman Kilpatrick.
