Khanun (Falcon) was a strong category 4 SSHWS equivalent typhoon that peaked at 140 mph, 928 mb (226 kmh, 27.4 inHg). It mostly affected Japan during its life and dissipated over China after traveling over North and South Korea.
Khanun's damage costs reached $98.1M USD. 13 fatalities were reported.

Khanun started off as a disturbance South and West of Guam and became a tropical depression a few hundred miles to the west of Guam on July 27. The next day it strengthened into a tropical storm and began moving North. Another day later it intensified into a severe tropical storm and then a typhoon. Over the course of one to two days, favorable environmental conditions allowed Khanun to strengthen quickly to a category 4 SSHWS equivalent typhoon while gradually moving towards the islands of Okinawa. On the 1st of August, Khanun reached its peak intensity. The storm's motion slowed down to being nearly stationary over the East China Sea, NE of Taiwan, and quickly weakened due to the upwelling of sea surface temperatures before going back east towards the islands of Okinawa, Amami, and Tokara. August 4-8 Khanun slowly moved through the islands, maintaining severe tropical storm status, and traveled north to North and South Korea, passing the islands of Kyushu on August 9th and finally making its first landfall on South Korea as a weakening tropical storm. From there onwards, Khanun died off over North Korea and China and completely dissipated on August 12th.
