KEN CURTIS (FESTUS) Performing w/ Sons of the Pioneers (1970)

Описание к видео KEN CURTIS (FESTUS) Performing w/ Sons of the Pioneers (1970)

On running a comparison video for a customer to show the benefits of running a previous 40 year old film transfer once again but in 1080 HD I came across this scene.

This is Ken Curtis and The Sons of the Pioneers performing at the DEVIL'S NEST LAND DEVELOPMENT Grand Opening in Nebraska on August 30, 1970. Before Ken began playing deputy Festus Haggen on the TV series Gunsmoke he sung in various bands, most notably The Sons of the Pioneers for three years. He also acted / sang in various musical westerns.

The Devils Nest development project opened in 1972 and was to have a 25 story hotel along with luxury homes some of which affronted Lewis and Clark lake. An equestrian center and a yacht club were built and The Devils Nest ski resort was completed and operated a few years. The property was foreclosed upon in 1975 and sold off at auction in 1977 to satisfy judgements.

Ken led out his later years in Clovis, California and what I find particularly odd there is a statue of him (Re: the 3rd title panel) in a low fenced area by the Educational Employees Credit Union building on Pollasky Avenue in Clovis that's viewable in Google Maps street view, though their algorithm has obscured his face as it does all humans or in this instance, statues.

I'm pulling together optics & Info for a short video vignette I'm doing on this section of film and would like to hear from those who might have a connection or something to offer on this bit of history.
