Introducing Aztec Records

Aztec Records is a young record label that is winning over legions of fans with their hybrid of electrified synth pop and dance music. From their London base, Aztec Records specialises in a strain of dance music that combines the energy and rawness of electro with the melodic complexities of pop, championing the sounds of burgeoning talents such as Van Go Lion, Woman E, Johnny Lazer, RAFF, Nina, Disco Damage and Lady Joker amongst others.

Set up in 2010, the label is a joint venture between Ariel Amejeiras and Laura Fares, two Argentine born music enthusiasts who moved to the vibrant and cultural environment of London to share a clear and well defined musical vision. Ariel has been a professional producer since 2000, going on to co-found Moreno in 2003, who were released by the likes of Buzzin' Fly, Atlantic Jaxx and Essence Records. Laura meanwhile graduated from the London College of Music & Media and has since enjoyed a career as a session drummer and DJ/producer sharing the stage with world class artists like The Wanted, Sam Sparro, Ricky Martin and Guy Chambers amongst others.

Ariel and Laura wanted to use their new label, Aztec Records as a platform to release up and coming electro, dance and pop artists and fresh new remixes. Designed to get artists heard when mainstream labels were over-looking them, their label gets the artists they believe in, live on stage and released to wider audiences. They share a common goal to discover new, cutting edge talent and share their music with the world. The label's passion for music is unrivaled and their intimate set up creates a family-like atmosphere that cultivates the perfect environment for new tracks to be born into the world. The close knit relationship between the label and their artists breeds even more creativity within the artists, something that allows them to create music that is unique to both the acts themselves and Aztec Records.
Future plans for the label include regular releases that will bring exposure to new artists, killer remixes and awe-inspiring visuals, in addition to a regular club night that will put Aztec Record's roster of acts on stage whilst keeping its records spinning. All the artists on the label have particularly strong live shows, something that is a pre-requisite when joining forces with the imprint.
