TW for talk of violent murder, mutilation, family death and pet death in a hypothetical sense. *

The blog entry I spoke about: http://www.autistichoya.com/2016/12/i...

Head's up-- I get really angry and go through a lot of strong emotions in this video because I could not control my reaction as well as I thought I would. I kept going anyway. Maybe letting people see the emotional impact will make them understand why I'm speaking on this matter.

Destroying an autistic person's comfort object is NOT okay. It's traumatic. It's an act of abuse. It can have the same emotional effect on them as watching a pet or family member being mutilated and murdered. I'll go so far as to say doing it on purpose is a horrific act of violent physical abuse as well as emotional and psychological abuse.

An autistic person's comfort object is the one thing or things in the world that they can count on to remain the same even when everything else is changing. It's something that symbolizes safety and comfort. For some, losing a comfort object feels like the end of the world.

I don't care if an autistic person's comfort object is a Tangle stim toy, a shirt, a blanket, a water bottle, a shoelace or a plastic spoon-- you do not ever purposely damage, destroy or prevent their access to it! EVER!!!

I am a 36 year old autistic adult (will be 37 in July 2017). Wile E. is not just a stuffed animal to me. I see him as a living being, though not in the sense of another person or pet. I treat him like he has feelings, like he can feel pain and like he can hear me. I talk to him and I've told him things I only say in prayers. The thought of something awful happening to him absolutely terrifies me.

I'm not a violent person, but I'll get violent if somebody messed with my Wile E. Coyote. Someone who destroys him will not walk away without broken bones or blood coming from some part of their body. I'm EXTREMELY territorial about Wile E..

Anyone who destroys, damages or hides an autistic person's comfort object is horrible. Decent people don't go around destroying somebody else like that.

If you ever did that to an autistic person in your life, I hope you feel really f*cking guilty. I hope you realize what a terrible person you are to hurt someone like that. And I hope you beg their forgiveness-- you'll be lucky...very, very lucky...if you get it.

Don't destroy comfort objects.
