CHARITY SINGLE RELEASED TO RAISE VITAL FUNDS FOR PANCREATIC CANCER

James Huish has released a song, Heavenly Blessing, to raise funds for charity Pancreatic Cancer Action. The song, which is performed by singer Jolene O'Hara, is dedicated to all those who have lost their battle with pancreatic cancer, which is UK's fifth biggest cancer killer.

The original lyrics were penned by widow Kerry Irvine from Northern Ireland, who responded to a request from James on social media asking if anyone wanted a song written for someone they loved.

"My husband Noel lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2011 aged 54, and I wanted a song that would be a tribute to him that could be shared with my two children" says Kerry.

"With the help of my friend Kelley Spacey, who lost her mother to the disease, I started to write some lyrics," continues Kerry. "James continued to work with the lyrics he was given, adding more heartfelt words of his own along with the music, and then Jolene O'Hara kindly agreed to record the song.

"If you have ever lost someone you love you will be able to connect with the song. We also hope it raises funds and awareness of pancreatic cancer.

"I want to help change the statistics and the death sentence handed down to those diagnosed with this cruel disease," added Mrs Irvine.

Currently, only three per cent of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive for more than five years.

All profit made from the single will go to Pancreatic Cancer Action. Pancreatic Cancer Action is committed to working towards earlier diagnosis of the disease so that surgery, currently the only cure, is made available to the sufferer.

Ali Stunt, chief executive at Pancreatic Cancer Action and a rare pancreatic cancer survivor, said: "We are so grateful to James, Jolene, Kerry, Kelley and all those involved with making this single and kindly offering to donate all profit to the charity.

"Pancreatic cancer has been little known and chronically underfunded for far too long," continues Ali. "It is an aggressive cancer which is often identified too late for a surgery to take place -- the only possible cure. Early diagnosis is key to changing the statistics and this is what we are focused on at Pancreatic Cancer Action."
