Racing advocates always claim that horses can't be forced to do something they don't want to do.

Look at this and decide for yourself.


They also claim horses love to race. That is an easy mistake to make. Horses are often locked up alone for 23 hours a day. Of course they are going to appear keen when they get out of a stable.

This footage is from Horse Racing Exposed and I am also going to include one of their comments because it is an excellent explanation of horse behaviour:

'You talk like you think you are an expert, then you say THIS "if they didn’t want to RUN they wouldn’t" That one sentence proves that you know nothing about equine behaviour, not even the basics.

Horses are flight/prey animals. When one horse runs they all run, even when they don't really want to. There is safety in numbers. It's why horses continue running when they lose the jockey, NOT because they love racing.

Of course some horses will freeze to the spot and refuse to move. But that does not in ANY way suggest that all horses just wouldn't run if they didn't want to. Even injured horses will continue running with the herd because they know that being alone makes them more vulnerable.

Also, horses might 'love to run', but when they choose, at their own pace, in play. Horses only run at high speed over long distances if they are in danger. Racing is not natural or normal for horses, why do you think so many bleed from the lungs post race? PLEASE educate yourself at least on the basics, before you try to even suggest that someone else doesn't know what they are talking about!.'
