Now that's important because the hormones in the cream the estrogen... it's picked up and moved around the body on a red blood cell, like the red blood cell acts as this little taxi. So you apply it on the skin, it goes through the skin and attaches itself to a red blood cell. And so in that local area, as you're applying it, it will absorb, it will get picked up by your red blood cell and distributed throughout that local area.

[00:01:09] And we have receptors for estrogen throughout that region all along the the cells of the vagina, along the cells of the urethra, along the labia along the the whole vulva. There are little receptors there just waiting for estrogen to arrive. And so that local distribution will absorb a high proportion of that estriol that's being absorbed through the skin. You're gradually just rebuilding it, rebuilding it, rebuilding it. And over time that skin tissue, that lines the vagina, lines the urethra regains its strength and integrity.

[00:01:48] Kirsti: So it sounds like these little red blood cell taxis are getting the estrogen to exactly the receptors all around our reproductive organs, around our urinary tract, even without being directly applied into the vagina.
