Champion 2000 Watt Generator 73536i Surging Idle carburetor fix

Описание к видео Champion 2000 Watt Generator 73536i Surging Idle carburetor fix

My Champion 2000W 73536i generator was surging at idle. It had maybe 16-24 hours of use on it. Other videos indicated that the idle jet gets plugged. I show where the low speed jet is located on this carburetor and how I cleaned it. It was also surging at higher rpm's so I dont know if it was the idle jet or another jet since I removed the carb sprayed carb cleaner into every port I could find. I also added a fuel filter. I removed the whole Carb, but that was probably not necessary if you just want to access the idle jet. Sorry of the jumpy video - I was just using my GoPro.

Disassembly
To access the top of the carburetor, remove the 4 phillips screws on the back service panel; remove the top 4 10mm bolts and remove the top handle; remove the fuel shutoff knob (phillips) from the control panel and the (3) 7mm fuel tank bolts and slide the tank off to the side. Then remove the 2 phillips screws holding the black servo motor (dont loose the little spring) from the top of the carburetor. This should give you enough access to the carb to remove the idle jet. Remove the clip and then pull out the idle jet with a needle nose pliers. NOTE: You dont have to actually remove the servo motor - there is an access hole for a phillips screwdriver just above the idle jet retaining screw that I just noticed!

Add a fuel filter
The only fuel filter this unit had was a coarse fuel strainer under the fill cap - it's terrible. The strainer is in the way of filling and I had removed it many times. I suspect that is how the dirt got in. I added a 75 micron small engine fuel filter between the tank and carb to prevent future issues.

Update 8-23-18: Another carb issue, this time it wasnt getting fuel. It appears the rubber float bowl gasket is deteriorating and dropping bits of rubber into the bowl, which is after my new filter. Took carb off again and sprayed carb cleaner through everything and cleaned up the gasket and its working again.

I called Champion and a whole new carb is $28 plus $7 shipping. I'm probably going to order one since I know the bowl gasket is deteriorating (cant get just the bowl or gasket).

Here is a nice review of this Generator    • Champion 2000 Watt Stackable Portable...

Found a tech bulletin on the Champion website for this process (and others) https://y79961nbs4u2hvbnwronx9zx-wpen...

Oh, and I see RedRocket noted the same thing in his comment below!

Fuel line notes
I damaged my fuel line taking it off with a pliers. It appears to be metric with an ID of 5mm (0.197in). 1/4 hose is too loose. 3/16 (0.1875in/4.75mm) is a little tight, but works. Gates makes #27122 0.203in hose which is probably ideal if you can find it by the foot.
