Ladies N Gents welcome tae Glasgow, the home of the games |
Where the kids are known as wanes |
The city where pure magic patter flows oot ae the average man |
Get the full experience, go visit the Barrowlands. |
Grab yersel a cauld yin, hit the toon and have a dance |
Try the local cuisine, chocolate bars battered are class |
This is the home ae where we treat ye like we know ye |
Where we don’t waste wine tae christen ships and people love thur fish n chips |
We’re rich in history and live oor lives traditionally |
Fae Ibrox tae Parkheed, there’s always wan consistency |
We’re loud and free and we’re proud to be Glaswegian |
If you wanty know the Hampden it’s thousands of fans screamin |
Here’s tae a bitchin summer, let’s hope we get mild weather |
But even in the pouring rain, Glasgow smiles better |
So it makes sense tae bring the Commonwealth tae ma streets, |
Cos you’ll never see mer people dressed as track athletes |

Scuffed up auld sannies hingin doon fae the wire |
look up to see the towers, steeples and spires |
buildings of beauty, a city of desire |
choons oan the tranny, we work til we're too tired |
solid foundations, bricks and mortar |
The people here huv always got a lot tae offer |
if ye ask for a hawn, we pitch in, fix it proper |
crack a joke “haha that's a topper
The butchers, the bakers, the breweries and bookmakers
whatever your flavour, a cuppa comes as a saviour |
If you must rush, then nae hassle or fuss |
Just remember ye canny shuv yer granny aff the bus |
When asked the question, we spit oot the first answer |
Oor gallus nation, "oan yersel ya dancer" |
Come karaoke night every man is Frank Sinatra |
like The Wellington statute he stawns proud wae a cone on his napper |
The sunlight caught sight from tall trees and tenements, |
the local folk rambling telling tall tales of irrelevance, |
People here do anything for family, friends and relatives, |
It’s nae bother brother, sister, mother, father, you know its genuine
Wee means small and tall's called lanky |
Granny always has a hanky for when your nose is Manky
whenever you open the door people thank ye |
It's that feel good vibe, Ye can feel it can't ye? |
The famous green and blue play side by side together |
The stories we blether live on forever and ever |
The land of the banter, where we are always “kiddin on!” |
Geez peace!.. wae square sausage and tattie scone
Now don’t get confused when I ask ye “how?” |
What I really mean is why... but why? I don’t really know how |
Just join in with the festivity, naebody will think any less of ye |
Keep it calm and take a tan ae ginger brewed to a secret recipe |

He said, she said, and I wis like that |
This is Glasgow City where we are having a laugh |
Pap a dram in a glass, raise your arms to the past |
Let’s toast the west coast, it’s the land of the fast |
So stick oan yer runnin shoes, the worlds watching |
Broadcasting live it’s the Sons of Scotland |,
G-L-A-S-GO! Welcome to the show, |
We play to win... So let the Games begin! |
