Hi, everyone, Aidan here at the trailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima OverHaul Adjustable Ladder Rack System and seeing how it fits on our 2022 Ford Maverick. Now, overall, a ladder rack itself is going to be a very functional thing to add to your truck, especially on something that's a Maverick. You've got a much smaller bed space here, so any way you can carry some extra stuff with you is gonna be very helpful. Now, if you're not gonna go in the bed or in the vehicle, the next best place is to move on up, whether that be a roof rack or a ladder rack. Now if you're looking at roof-mounted accessories, something like a kayak carrier, maybe a tent, you're gonna have a lot more options when it comes to a ladder rack because with it you're gonna get a boosted weight capacity compared to a roof rack.

And with certain accessories like a tent, you can't put that on a certain type of roof rack that works with the Maverick. So your options there are gonna be something like an over-the-bed rack like this one. Having one that's height adjustable allows us to get this fit really well to the Maverick. A lot of ladder racks out there that are fixed are designed for full size trucks. So on something like the Maverick here, they're gonna stick up really tall, and we don't always need that.

It's nice to have a little bit of clearance above the cab of the truck here. So if we do have something long and extended, like lumber, ladder, or a kayak, we don't have to worry about it bumping into our cab, but we don't want it to be sticking up so far that it's going to be getting a lot of wind drag and wind noise. We wanted to keep it nice and low profile so it's nice and clean and easy to reach. Now as far as how much height adjustment you get, it can be moved anywhere from 19 inches tall all the way up to 30 inches tall. That's going to be the measurement from the top of the bed rails to the top of the crossbar.

Ours are currently set at 22 inches, so we've got plenty of upward movement if we want to. It's got a few inches of clearance above our cab right now. You can see up top in the center that the antenna is still poking up a little bit there. So certain accessories might have some clearance issues with that. You could either swap that out for a shorter antenna or just bring the rack up a bit more to have clearance with that as well.

As far as weight capacity goes, it can support 500 pounds. Now that's going to be its on-road rating. It does have a separate off-road rating of 300 pounds. That's just because in an off-road environment, you're gonna be moving things around a whole lot more and you can expect a lot more shake and vibrations to be transferring into the ladder rack and whatever you have tied down to it. So just keep in mind that you're abiding by those weight ratings, and do also keep in mind the weight ratings of your truck. Just because the ladder rack can support 500 pounds doesn't mean that your truck can. So take into account the ladder rack, the weight you have loaded up onto it, and then anything you have in your bed as well. You don't wanna exceed the payload capacities of your truck. And much like your Maverick, the ladder rack does have a lot of tie-down points to choose from. The uprights here each have their own tie-down point with an included bottle opener if you want that. And then on the crossbars for each end cap, there's going to be a metal tie-down point there as well. So if you are strapping things down, you've got plenty of options to choose from on the rack itself, and of course the options in the bed of the Maverick too. Now the crossbars in your kit are gonna be Yakima's HD bars and I'm a big fan of these bars. They've got a lot of function to 'em aside from those tie-down points you've already seen. You've got a T-track up top with an included weather strip to keep that wind noise down. If you did wanna slide accessories into that T-track, you just take that weather stripping out, trim it to length, and put it back in around your accessories, or maybe a little bit more commonly, have the option to do clamp around accessories. We've got plenty of room underneath and around to clamp things on and the bars themselves are gonna be 60 inches long with a little bit of overhang on either side. So there's gonna be plenty of room on the bars to probably mount multiple accessories depending on what kind of accessories we're mounting. And if you're looking at a ladder rack, you do have other options out there. Like I mentioned, there's certain ones that are gonna be fixed, maybe designed mor
