Panchpokhari, situated at 4400 meters above sea level, earns its name as the collective appellation for five lakes nestled within the alpine meadows of Lower Solukhumbu, encircled by majestic mountains. Panchpokhari, Solukhumbu falls within the boundaries of the Makalu Barun National Park in the Mahakulung rural municipality of Solukhumbu.

Panchpokhari is considered sacred land for Kirati, Hindu, and Buddhist devotees alike. It is believed that whatever one desires in this sacred land will come true if expressed with sincerity, especially on the auspicious days of Naag Panchami and Janai Purnima. Devotees gather and offer prayers, marking Panch Pokhari as an equally important religious destination alongside its natural significance.
