Episode 2 - The Western Loop - Leitrim to Limerick

The Irish Photo Rally is an annual motorcycling event across Ireland where participants photograph their motorbikes at 24 set locations, often off the beaten track or featuring interesting landmarks. The goal is to promote fun, travel, and adventure. The event covers all 32 counties, though inland counties are grouped due to being less scenic. Certificates are awarded for notable entries, whether impressive or humorous.

To take part in the Irish Photo Rally, simply ride to any of the 24 listed locations and take a photo of your motorcycle at each spot. No pre-registration is needed to access the list. The aim is to encourage riders to explore hidden or quirky parts of Ireland.

You can visit as many locations as you like, but to qualify for awards:

Bronze: 12+ locations
Silver: 18–23 locations
Gold: All 24 locations

The Irish Photo Rally began in 1974, originally organized by Eamon Morrissey from Limerick. After two years, Andy Deane briefly continued the event in the late '70s. From the late '70s to late '80s, the Boyne Riders motorcycle club ran the rally until the club became inactive.

In 2003, former Boyne Riders Lorcan Green and Gerry Christie revived the rally. A major update came in 2017, when Tim Collins brought the event online, introducing a digital submission system through the official website, replacing the old paper-based format.
