The rules (check pinned comment for additional info):

Fresh NG file (choosing Canon of Vengeance because it is slightly harder)
Hard Mode
Only mandatory battles (outside of recruiting demons and fishing for essences/magatsuhi)
No optional quests, including non-combat quests
No Omagatoki: Luck
No DLC (Sakuya/Dagda, Mitama, DLC Items)
No powerups* (Gospels/Balms/Haunts/etc...)
Only ONE demon per race at all times (to avoid abusing some magatsuhi skills like Bouncy Body)
Everything else is fair game, including fusion accidents and using the items you get

Grimoires had to be used to obtain some useful skills like Endure, and 44 Strength Incenses, 3 Battle Sutras and a few Haunt Talks were used to beef up Greg the Gogmagog in order to beat Tiamat, as she keeps outhealing my damage otherwise.
