Journalist Kate O'Hare, creator of the Pax Culturati blog at Patheos.com, talks to Jonathan Roumie about playing the late hippie preacher Lonnie Frisbee in the new film 'Jesus Revolution,' hitting theaters on Feb. 24. It's Catholic actor Roumie's highest-profile role since he began playing Jesus in the hit Gospels-based TV series 'The Chosen."
Set in the 1970s, 'Jesus Revolution' chronicles the beginning of the Jesus Movement, through the eyes of pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer) and young Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney), who later wrote the book 'Jesus Revolution,' and the impact that Frisbee had on both their lives.
Much of Frisbee's life doesn't make it into the film. In 2005, OC Weekly did a comprehensive profile of Frisbee, who died of AIDS in 1993, at the age of 43. Here it is: https://www.ocweekly.com/the-first-je...
