Gorgeous grizzly sow with her three cubs!

This female was/is such a beautiful bear. She would only be seen for a week or two a summer, choosing to stay back country away from human activity. When she did venture to the front country, she was usually traveling with cubs, and usually they were yearlings. Her reasons for showing up were to take advantage of the food sources now that her cubs were getting bigger and requiring more calories. Also very alert and shy, she was quick to retreat to a soft zone, void of people and vehicles. You can see this in this video, and her cubs clearly are adapting the same characteristics as their mom. She was very easy to manage when she did show up, and it took very little to nudge her somewhere quiet so they could feed without prying eyes. Because she wasn't collared or tagged she also became a top target for photographers. I took great pride in keeping her away from people to limit her habituation, it was nice to have a wild bear who preferred to stay elusive.....therefor being that much more special when you did see her.
