The Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 used to dominate the Korean skies with its mighty armament suite, turn radius, and maximum speed at combat altitude. But by December of 1950, the Americans had finally leveled the ground against the Soviets in the area with the introduction of the legendary North American F-86 Sabre.

Despite its weaknesses compared to its foe, the Sabre did not take long to establish supremacy over the Communists with its unmatched handling characteristics.

The F-86 took part in the world's first large-scale fighter jet dogfights, but as outstanding as it was, the jet had one major flaw: it was not carrier-capable.

Hence, the Navy put in motion the development of a machine that could take the F-86’s power to the seas. The answer was the FJ-2 Fury…
