Using eggshells for grit in my vermicompost bin, and the process I use for grinding up the eggshells. I either use eggshells from hard boiled eggs or I use eggshells from breakfast and put them into the microwave to kill off any bad bacteria and make safe for storage. I then add the eggshells to the worm bin with the feeding to give the worms grit for digesting the food scraps. This also helps to add calcium to the worm castings.
