campus witnessed an uneasy calm on Monday as hundreds of security personnel guarded the gates of the forested educational institution in the national capital. Through the day, the campus streets bore silence, while several students packed their bags to leave the university till the situation 'came back to normal'.

A day after around 50 masked men, armed with rods and hammers, unleashed violence at the campus hostel, the anger seethed as the students demanded an immediate arrest of the guilty. Outside, while politicians played the blame game, the students from across the country staged protests against the JNU violence, which had left at least 30 students injured.

Allegations and counter-allegations continued between ABVP and JNUSU and their supporters. JNU students union claimed that attack was orchestrated by the ABVP-backed outsiders, while ABVP named Aishe Ghosh as the leader of the mob.
