A new 6-lane greenfield highway between Visakhapatnam (Vizag) and Raipur is set to transform travel across Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The corridor reduces travel time from 13–14 hours to just 7–8 hours and shortens the distance by over 120 km.

The highway passes through Anakapalli, Vizianagaram and Parvathipuram Manyam districts in Andhra Pradesh before entering Odisha and Chhattisgarh. It features two engineering-marvel tunnels of 3.4 km each near Sunki Ghat in Koraput district, circular roads around lakes, wildlife underpasses and over 30,000 new trees planted along the route.

The corridor also opens up access to major tourist destinations like Araku Valley, Ambapani Wildlife Sanctuary, Indravati National Park, Sita Nadi Wildlife Sanctuary, Bairangarh Wildlife Sanctuary and several caves and waterfalls — making it one of India’s most scenic and eco-friendly highways.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways aims to complete and open the project by December next year, boosting regional development, tourism and connectivity in remote tribal and forest areas.
